If
you are heading further afield then the Minervois in your travels,
you will find the regions of the Languedoc-Roussillon, which include
Pyrénées-Orientales, Aude, Herault, and Gard, to
be the road of the Pays d'Oc - the old culture still exists in
the hearts of many from the region - and you can often overhear
them speaking the ancient language of the Oc!
The wines along the Pays d'Oc, known for their quality and strict
traditions of wine-making, are worth the taste, and you may even
want take a few bottles home with you!
The region will take you from the borders of Spain, the Pyrénées
(both the French and Spanish sides are magnificent), through
the municipality of Andorra, along the seaside of Perpignan and
the historical village of Porte Leucate, through Castelnaudry
with its famous duck cassoulet, passing through both Carcassonne
and Narbonne (and in the middle you will find La Dolce Vita B&B
in Azille!), on through the Cevennes mountains, Montpellier and
on up to the Rhône river, border of the regions of Provence.
